Default Baltimore Area Help

Hey Guys, where can I get my block honed in the Baltimore area? I know inline pro is in DC but thats a 2 hour drive I was hoping to be able to get my block done local in Baltimore, I just need it honed any one know of any machine shops around that can do it? Thanks!

is it that bad that you cant do it yourself? There are self do it honing kits out there that are pretty good.

I wasnt aware that you could hone your block yourself, anyone done this? I found a place called Swanner in northern baltimore that has done some in the past may use them.

Yes you can, it is very easy to do:

Can I ask you why you think you need your block honed? I'm assuming you have you engine tore apart right? How do the cylinder walls look, any deep scratches?

Worse case scenerio, after you hone your cylinder walls you might require a thinker piston ring even if it is thousands of a inch.

yep torn apart, cylinder 4 deep scratches and a lot of them. I am looking at another short block tonight in the Baltimore area that I may buy and get honed because I believe mine are far too deep to take out. Ill take a look at that and see if I may want to hone out the cylindars myself. I know you can do that with most engines but was not sure about our FRM cylinders, anyone honed their own FRM cylinders before?!

yeah big time I can feel them real easy, my block def needs to be sleeved, I hope this other one may be able to just be honed
