They probably only use 1-2 ounces of fluid for the all the basic tests but it's wise to send 3-4 ounces to be on the safe side (very common to rerun tests). They should have appropriately sized containers.

Speaking of containers...what is that you have your oil in??

^^ It is a cleaned out old dial hand soap bottle. It's all I could find at the moment small enough and with a top.

Kevin, as far as the oil sample, it basically has to be a 'clean' sample in the sense that if you got the sample from a oil change container, it will not give you a good result because the container has seen previous oil in it.

They say to provide a sample from the pan while it is draining, somewhere in between when it first comes out of the pan to the end of the oil in the pan. Once you get the instructions, you will see what I am talking about.

As far as the sample, while the oil was draining out, I just stuck the container they provided into the oil and collected the sample. Easiest way not to have a contaminated sample.

They provide everything that you need in the kit. I got my results about a weekend after I sent it. I just sent it regular mail. The post office employee looked iffy about sending the sample but I brought the letter showing that it is okay to send regular mail. I sent it in the black container that they provide.

I know you're doing it for peace of mind...but there really is no reason to change your oil as much as you are doing. You could probably safely double your OCI without thinking twice about it, especially if you switch to an oil that stays in grade. If you insist on using a 40 grade in your car, Rotella t6 is a really nice option and will stay in grade MUCH longer than that GTX.

Ok, I feel better about my results after reading what those big words meant. I thought they were all bad things so the higher the worse. Not the case.

The high numbers I was concerned about were:
Molybdenum (found in anti wear additive)
Boron (found in a cleaning additive)
Calcium (also found in a cleaning additive)
Silicon (spray lubricants so I guess I'm doing my K&N filter with too much oil)

Soooo if you get your report back, don't do what I did and panic. Go read what each of the things are from

Oh, and to blackstone for fast turn around time!
