CDC Autox # 14: Dec 3rd in Frederick, MD!
Many have asked about a December autocross. So, here it is! This event may be pushing our luck and is the LAST autocross (of any kind) until next Spring.
We will hold an abridged autocross on SATURDAY December 3rd at Harry Grove Stadium, Frederick, MD. Since the days are shorter and colder, registration will start one hour later at 9:00 am. Each participant will run only one heat with 4 runs, so that we can pack up and get home before dark.
Since the 2005 autocross season is over, this event has no points. Indexes and indexed times will be calculated.
The cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members.
Members can reserve a spot at any time. Non-members can reserve a spot starting on Friday November 25th. All spots will be given on a first come first serve basis.
To reserve a spot, e-mail Ed Chan the following information:
Full Name:

As always, check your e-mail and the web site for any changes in status (e.g. bad weather).
If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to ask Ed or PM me.

I have a big problem with finding my way in a sea of cones. They all look alike sometimes. Good luck and have patience. (Something I need to work on next season if I get another car.)Some people will say to take the spare out of your trunk and what not... this is up to you. You won't be good enough for a while for this to even come close to having an impact on your time.

And don't worry about trying to be competetive, this is a fun event (and I'll be on all seasons too). Just be warned, it'll get you hooked and you'll be craving it all winter long

1) take out any junk (change, mobile phones, boxes of crap etc) you have in your car and/or trunk. You will have to remove these in order to pass tecj inspection. You don't want loose stuff rolling around while autoXing.
2) Tire pressures for OEM tires should be in the ~35-37 psi rang front and ~33-34 psi range (COLD pressures).
3) check and make sure your oil and brake fluid levels are fine.
A few things to do for yourself:
1) find and instructor to ride along with you. They will be able to give some advice and proabbly help you to trim off time.
2) Look ahead for the next gate
3) start off slow (75% effort) and gradually add speed as you get more runs under your belt. For beginners: slower is faster (trust me it really is).
4) Have fun
5) Look ahead
6) Have fun
7) Look ahead (you want to anticiapte and plan for the next gate not react to it).
8) Bring some warm clothes, it is really windy at that lot..
9) E-mail Ed Chan to rserve a slot.
