Scenario: Returning to the office from lunch break, The Bruised Banana didn't fare too well having come in contact with a non-retained cast iron Henrico County water cap. Cast iron county water cap was sitting 'flush' to asphalt, but with no retaining lip around the cap (because that retaining lip had broken away over time) there was nothing to keep the cast iron county water cap set in place
Result: As The Bruised Banana rolled past/over the cast iron county water cap, the cap shifted/popped out of the non-retained hole in the asphalt and damaged the undercarriage of The Bruised Banana in multiple locations
Damages:
• Shattered Aluminum Oil Pan
• Bent OEM Honda front axle cross member
• Bent OEM Honda rear axle cross member
• Broke non-OEM front frame cross brace (MUZ X-Brace)
Of course... Henrico Co. will likely say its the responsibility of the private property owner (Genworth) to report any Co. water/equipment problems. Genworth will probably say its the Co.'s equipment...so its there responsibility. My own insurance has already happily reminded me that, since I opted to drop coverage on the BB down to simple Liability...they have no responsibility to try and collect on my behalf. And ultimately, I'll be out $700+...at least until/unless I can get someone to accept responsibility. Darn shame...
Some tasty pics (who the hell am I kidding...this disgusts me! )
[Edit - Added 'damaged parts' pics on 5/2]
Had a chance to inspect the damaged parts my service mechanic replaced for me. Thought I'd update the OP with those pics as well...
I would be tempted to find the CEO/head honcho who is ultimately responsible and then throw that cover through their nice, big living room window one evening.
