You can only make yourself happy, can't be dependant on something that happen. I guess hypocritical to that comment though if you were happy.... and aren't now, you should do some soul searching and figure out why you were happy and strive for that change, not try to change the past.

but, on that note. what happens if you were happy in the past, but arent happy now?!? wouldnt you want to change the past to find that happiness again?!?
I understand this Chad. There was a time I was invincible. Everything I wanted I either had . . . or was on my way to having.

It's hard to believe my life would end up like this.

Yes, I would love to go back to that previous life. A nearly perfect life. Unfortunately, that Rob is DEAD! He doesn't exist anymore.

I think time heals most things. But in the mean TIME, it is great to have good friends you can call and talk to or hang out with. Trust me, I know.

So on that note, I'm always here. Soemtimes it is good to just and chat with someone over coffee or whatever. Just a relaxed conversation. And luckily, there are some great people that have experienced a lot in life and can relate to yoru situation . . . or at the very least be a good listener.

Hey man, you got all of our digits . . . don't hesitate to call.

I change the past all the time! You should have seen what this thread was like before I straightened it out!

To respond to the question about the "can change/can't change" time machine thing: there's a theory based on entropy (if memory serves) that states that every possible variation of events branches off into it's own timeline.

Imagine a room with a floor of black and white squares. You throw a bean bag into the room. Entropy states that every combination of that bean bag landing in every square happens and each event leads on to it's own future.

Now, if this is the case, going "back in time" might mean you're really simply slipping into one of these alternate timelines. In that event, you can change anything you feel like because you are simply affecting the flow of time in that timeline that hasn't happened yet; you aren't touching the timeline you came from. You can't change the past as you know it; but you could change an alternate past all you want!

I personally like this view of the structure of space-time.

is this the star trek forum?

there are definitely two or three things in my life I woulda done very differently. But I really do like where I ended up (so far), even though it wasn't always a lot of fun on the way.
