Default Clutch Buzz...?

I just got off the phone w/ the dealership. I took my car in because I have the clutch buzz. They diag'd the car and found it does have the issue (duh) but said it isn't covered by my certified honda warranty. They are currently trying to get authorization from the zone manager, but if he says know then other than going directly through Honda I am SOL.

I was under the impression that this would be fixed, did I misunderstand what I've read here or are they just trying to be cheap and not take care of it for me? I hope that isn't the case, but at this point Im not so impressed by my honda certified warranty.

Any comments?

It is not covered under the warranty. There is nothing wrong with it mechanically when it makes the noise. Even if it was something wrong with the clutch, the clutch is not covered by the warranty. Most likely if you really dis-like the sound you will have to replace it at your own expense like I did.

I'd push for Honda to cover it under your warranty. If the stealership was the one who ran the diagnostic and determined it was in fact clutch buzz, Honda should cover it. There was a TSB for this right? I'm not sure what exactly is covered in the warranty, but your scenario definitely sounds like something the warranty would cover.

Not all TSBs require them to fix anything only a recall gaurantees a fix. The clutch noise is under the TSB where they know about it and just don't care.

Thanks, Mike

Oh man, didn't realize that. Guess I wouldn't know too much about an AP1 anyways. Doug, just do what Bobby recommended on Saturday: turn the radio up so you can't hear the clutch buzz.

I edited my statement because what I said wasn't worded very well. I was going to suggest if you really want to get rid of the noise that www.hardtopguy.com had a clutch kit, but I don't see it as a kit any more. Basically you want to replace the pressure plate and disc. You can get an OEM disc and just upgrade the pressure plate to ACT or something. Just make sure you get all the parts so you can do it in one shot. Also a good time to get a new flywheel put in if you want something lighter.

They have agreed to fix it. I didn't have to push, but they've called Honda and said that Honda agreed to fix it. So they are going to order the clutch and I give me a call when it arrives and I'll have my car back in the mean time.

I am more impressed now as they didnt have to fix it, but if they will thats great.
