I know back in 1996 I got my first speeding ticket ever, and it was on a highway in South Carolina. They definitely transferred it to my VA driving record and license as a 6 point reckless driving ticket.

hmmm I just looked at my ticket again. The officer never asked me to sign the ticket to "acknowledge receipt of this notice of infraction"

wonder if that means anything in DC courts.

It means there's a warrant out for your arrest.

When you go through DC, drive faster.

It's not the state-to-state reciprocity that you have to worry about, unless you already have a lot of points.

What will really get you is when your insurance rates go up for 3 years after your insurance company picks up the ticket. The ins companies seem to be getting ticket information nationally anymore. Increased rates could kick in on your next renewal, and can cost up to $1,000 extra a year--that's what I pay for the cumulative traffic sins commited by me and my kids.

You're right.. who cares about the points. Who cares if DMV suspends your license.

Well, if you were on the Parkway (which Parkway??), sounds like the U.S. Park Police (Feds), not DC.
I got a ticket back in 2001 on GW Parkway, it was a park police. I had to go to court because it was a reckless. When I was in court, the judge did ask the prosecutor how my driving record was and how many points I have. So yes in my case, points were taken off.
