Glad to hear that you're OK. Since you are going through the trouble to buy new silencers for your car, I don't see how it would hurt to call the officer and let him know. Even if he doesn't care, you should certainly mention it in court.

Like Skip said Jeremy, I'm just paying the fine ($87). Cut the check today & mailing it out with the summons tomorrow. My exhaust has been loud; that's a relatively undeniable fact . That the cop could mention [were I to show up in court] that he'd also pulled me for speeding (15 over) and no front plate...well, let's just say I don't want to discover whether or not the wrath of a judge has its limits or not . Again, I have no reason to try to squirm out of something that I was dead to rights on. And I'm doing the right thing (probably for everyone's ears ) and replacing the baffles.

My bigger hope is that my baffles actually *are* shot ...and that new ones don't just show off the same loud exhaust. As I drove away from the trooper last night, the biggest thing on my mind (besides, "Where's some toitey-paper?") was..."I don't wanna return to my OEM exhaust " .

PS. Don't get me wrong...and you are correct Jeremy. If I were to fix it, take before/after pics, show up in court, etc....well, there's every likelihood that it'd get dropped. Then again, a wrong judge (or just the fact that I really don't want to spend a PTO day sitting in a courtroom again )...makes me just wanna pay the fine & move on .

 

If I had known it was only an $87 fine and not a moving violation I don't think I would have even mentioned it. It's not worth $87 of my time to spend a full day in traffic court either.

for getting pulled in a nice car! I got pulled the other day..cop said i was following to close to some mini can and he didnt wanna see my car get into banged up shape if the van hit the brakes too quickly! No ticket..got many praises for my car from him too...
