Default Downforce

I've noticed the car feels light at around 120+. I don't hit it too often but when I do ...I sure wish it felt like it was sticking more.

Here's my opinion to the problem:

1. Bad tires: front are worn past where I would like and the rear are cheapos that Honda put on when I bought the car.

2. Experience: I don't have much experience going those speeds so maybe I'm just nervous.

3. Downforce: Need more? I don't have any spoiler or lip or anything. Should I get one? I don't like big spoilers very much at all. I want the oem one for the MY01 or I guess a GT wing if I have to. Oh...and what speeds would a spoiler help at? 60+....100+....150+?

Please let me know your ideas. Maybe it's all three things.

Change the freaking tires, a miss matched set is dangerous. Tires are the single most important piece on your car that affects handling.

I hope you well are away from and traffic at those speeds. Please go the the race track, you can go 120+ every lap.

Lips and Spoilers will make a slight difference, but not really anything you will notice in a straight line.

Your alignment could be off also.

it's all in your head... but yes.. swap your tires out....

i've hit 150mph with the top down and the car was stable....there's also two little plastic things that hang down from your front bumper in front of your front tires which helps stableize the car at higher speeds..

I believe they are called strakes... I have an extra driverside one, and they are also like 10 or 15 bucks from hardtopguy.
With some good tires and a good alignment (like gfactor said) you will feel a huge difference.

Yeah, the tires are probably the main factor in what you are feeling. I have just came back from a trip to the outer banks, NC and I have hit +120 mph top down and apart from the wind noise the car felt just like I was doing 60, just perfect. Better get a new set of good tires. Having the same type (make) of tires in all 4 wheels should be a must.

Ok. Thanks everyone. Is that what those pieces of plastic really do? They look so useless. How do they stabilize the car? The alignment seems fine to me....air pressure looks good and its even. I guess I'll see how life is after new tires.

Thanks again.

they direct air away from the tire... and in return, it prevents/reduces the amount that the tire lifts when the air (at those speeds) are hitting the tire..... without those there the force of the air/wind at those high speeds will start to lift the tire.. and causing the vehicle to be unstable...
