Is there a problem using the AEM EMS for our cars in MD. Can I pass them with a tail pipe test or is it a real PITA.

Yea you have a problem, they don't do the tailpipe test of OBD-II cars, they plug it in to the OBD port. You need to have the OEM ECU/piggyback or know someone.

Lower your car as much as possible. I'm running the AEM EMS 1052 and they gave me a 2 year waver because my car was to low to enter the facility.

I hear they are working on a solution with lowered cars. If that materializes the only option is to remove the AEM and buy the new Hondata K-Pro S2000, which is probably better suited for the S2000 anyway.

would it be possible to plug the stock ECU back in right outside, just to go through the test, and then put the EMS back in once you roll out of the garage?

No, I think you need 10 to 20 days of history reported through the OBD II sensor when they run diagnostics.

It is impossible to pass with AEM EMS in the state of Maryland unless you know someone. Your only hope is a waiver of some sort, or installing the stock ECU.

I am lowered on KWs and they waved me right though, made it though ok, and I'm sure I"m alot lower then a car on s-techs. So it sounds like its luck of the draw.
