Default exhaust?

I need to ask what other s2k owners do for their cars.
I came from michigan.. and I was driving a VR4 until I bought s2k about a month ago. In michigan there is no emissions or inspection.. nothing.. so i had many many aftermarket parts.. and one day i got pulled over becuase of my exhaust.
I told the cop I was only visiting so he let me go..
but my question is... aftermarket exhaust is a NO in richmond va? or was I just unlucky that day?
could anyone tell me how you manage with an aftermarket exhaust?

I don't know technically what the laws are but pretty much any aftermarket exhaust is illigal, but alot of us do it anyway. Just dont't drive like an ass and you'll be ok.

In virginia anything louder than stock is illegal if you have no cat you won't pass emissions or state inspection in va of course. People do have exhaust in northern va where i think it is the strictest. i've had numerous exhaust on my s2k and as long as there not really loud like an invidia you won't get pulled over. Anything quieter than that cruising you'll probably be able to get away with as long as your not hitting 8 - 9 k in the suburbs

Has anyone actually used a decibel meter to measure how loud different aftermarket exhausts are? Are the results posted anywhere?

Also, what you need to do is get some video of several Harley riders riding past cops with their loud exhausts and the cop doesn't pull them over. Those things are soooo damn loud, way louder than an aftermarket and yet they don't come from the factory like that. If it were me, I'd also ask the cop while the video was rolling to get their statement on tape.
