Default Extended warranty coverage question

Saturday night I lowered the top and heard a snap, I kind of knew what it would be but never thought it would happen in this weather.

The "hardened" plastic back window cracked open about a 6" opening near the bottom. I found my extended warranty paper but forgot to bring it with me today, what should I expect from the dealership when I go in for replacement?

Thanks for your input,
Mike W.

Sorry to hear that Mike. From what I understand, they will not cover it. You might want to be reay to argue.

I think it'd be insane for them not to cover it if you ponied up the money for an extended warranty.

Like Jeremy I've heard people say that it wasn't covered. One of the local guys here replaced his rear window on his own so hopefully he'll chime in if it's not covered.

Just returned from dealer...

Surprisingly, this is not the first time they've seen this happen.
Not so surprise, they aint covering it.

The plastic itself is $250, they don't do the installation or they don't know how to do it, where can I go?

It's a 2001, I also thought about converting it to glass... but not sure about the cost and job difficulty...

To switch to glass you need to replace the whole top not just the window. I talked with someone at the last wash wax meet who replaced his own plastic window but can't remember who it was. PM SweetJ about replacing the whole top for the glass window as I believe she has a hookup.

Thanks, Mark. I've decided to go with plastic, just need to find a service manual for some instructions...

Yeah...sadly, extended warranty services consider convertible tops to be trim. And you guessed it...they don't cover "trim damage" .

I experienced the very same thing. Ended up purchasing a glass rear top & paid moparacker to install it . Never looked back since then . With the glass rear, dropping the top is soooo easy. Never have to step back out to re-fold the rear window, etc. Love the new top!

Yeah...some money that I didn't want to spend . But once spent, its not missed, and the glass top looks soooo much better.
