F20C powered Rx-7 build thread
Ahhh... I think I know who your wife is. She came out to the Sumospeed Car Show last year, I was talking to her about her car.
I didn't really read super far into the first post to hear about the 7, but I can think of A LOT better motors than an F20C to put in there. That's just a lot bigger car with a tiny motor, stuff something big in there, and let me get the F motor to throw in a Corolla.

sorry for the delay. im like a 10 hour differnce in time zones over here. plus internet sucks on a ship. i emailed a couple of pictures for the dyno of my s2000. i know it is not the rx-7 but those will come in a few hours i promise.
about putting the f20 in the mazda. My GXL model only weighs 70 lbs more then the s2000, and im am pretty sure i will make up for that with a lighter enigne (f20c) due to the fact the rotary is a beast for those of you who know what i am talking about. also i am replacing the 40lbs steel hood with the lighter aluminum TII hood.
IMO the F20 is one of the greatest 4 banners out there but i dont want to start that argument. i love the way it sounds at 9k with VTEC and a 70mm exhaust. plus 120hp per liter Naturally asperated, and im still able to get 28ish MPG.
everybody does the typical V8/LS1 swap into an rx7 but i wanted to be different. Plus when you throw in a V8 you have to reposition the steering rack which throws the handling out of wack on the 2nd gen rx7. bad ju ju for drifting. it wouldn't matter if i was just going to daily drive the car or street race(which im am trying to say away from) besides i totaled my last s2000 and salvaged the motor.

I'm not saying the F20C is a bad motor by any means, but if you're looking for something to slide with, this isn't the motor you want to go with. The powerband just isn't where you need it to be unless you plan to add FI to the equation also.
A simple SR swap would do good, or like you said, the LS1 format is always a good to go setup. Either way, its your car so do what you please. Once you get back though, feel free to hit me up, I'm around the drift guys every day and I'm sure they can give you some better pointers than I can.

FI was the plan from the start. A simple GT30r turbo or even somthing a little smaller is my goal. I would like to max out the turbo at around 400 - 450 to the wheels so i can have that super quick spool up time.
A turbo any bigger and i think it would just be overkill for what i am looking to do.
