Yup, depends on the judge's mood... I got a wreckless on the Toll Road in my early years, pre-Internet well common Internet. So didn't have much choice in terms of research (in other words, good job researching on Internet). First offense, didn't bring a lawyer and the judge was pretty lenient $200 fine and 1 -2 points... Had a MD license then, but I think the pts transferred.

Go back and make your original post a little more "vague". Wouldn't want some unforseen resourcefullness. Get a lawyer and hope you're seen early in the 8AM grouping... and the judge had a good nights rest. And try to say "yes, sir" a lot.
