I've never installed one, but I have taken a fair share of them out If you gonna drop in a soft top with a new frame, then it should be an easy process. If you want to put the new skin on the old frame - you'll need some special tools like a rivet gun or something like that...

I have to admit, it's pretty colorful.

Me, Jeebs, and 9k_on_occasion just did a soft top swap this past weekend and I'll say it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. With three of us it took us about 6-7 hours to get both tops out and the new one in.

best thing I can tell you to do is remove as much interior prior to the day you do this. That alone will save you an hour or too.

What's up fellas, was just cruising through mid a and saw this thread. I'll be doing my 10th top this weekend, not the most difficult thing in the world but can be very time consuming. I'm willing to travel, but mid a might be a bit far. If youre in the jersey area or willing to travel, hit me up.

OP, I think there's a way to swap out the plastic rear window for a glass one. If you search around the web you may find it. This way you can get Rob's super cheap top and then buy a glass window along with it.

There is no way to "ADD" a glass window to a plastic window top. The only thing you can do is replace it with a new plastic window because on the factory 00-01 tops, the window zips in place. Although even this requires taking the whole back end of the car apart.

Taking the frame out of the car and doing it that way, i have found is way more time consuming that putting a new top on the existing frame. I can knock one out in about 3 hours...

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Jack where are you located? Id be down to do it for a small fee.
