Yes, Blinking CEL is very very bad. Glad to hear its a solid one. SHould be easy to fix. I just had a sensor replaced on my car last week that caused a CEL.
what code were you pulling? what did you have replaced? where? how much?

#3 How do you know the gas cap was loose? Did you tighten it until it clicked 3 times?

#5 A blinking CEL can indicate a more serious issue.
#3 - Yes. I got gas on Thursday or Friday and I know the cap was good for three clicks when I did that. Today when I went to check the gas cap it was definately loose. Could that have anything to do with temperature changes or something? Not sure how it would have gotten loose.

#5 - Not blinking, so I hope it's nothing major.

From time to time my gas cap will come loose also, and trigger my CEL. It has happened to me twice in the past year or so.

It's not that it "comes loose". The fit of the inner cap into the tank is really tight, so tight that the clutch on the gas cap that allows it to "click" will slip before the cap is tightenened all of the way.

Hold your cap more tightly and from the sides will you tighten it down and it will be snug all the way.

This has happened to a load of people recently... I also tightened it til the clicks but it still came loose. The trick was to press down on it while turning, and I haven't had it come loose since.

After tightening it, it took about 50-100 miles of driving before it went back to normal. It happened twice for me.

I think Tom Cruise might be on to something with his scientology crap. I left my car alone and the light went off today. I did tighten the gas cap and low and behold, as John said...about 50 miles later it went off.

I know this is off-topic, so I won't do more than one post, but he mentioned Scientology, so I had to post this link. Fun stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu

I recommend resetting it, either by pulling the battery cable or doing the reset trip meter method, search for this if you don't know what I am talking about. If it comes back then worry about it, if not then you are fine.
