Default Threw a CEL yesterday.

So i'm driving down the road yesterday..and the lovely CEL comes on. So I pull over, and my first thought is, hopefully it's only the gas cap. So I park my car, pop the gas lid, and low and behold, about 1 full turn and the cap is off. So I retighten it, and go about my night. The light however, stayed on. I only drove maybe 4 miles getting home because I didn't want to chance there actually being something wrong, and me making it worse by driving the car. So, my question is this. How long does the CEL for a loose gas cap take to clear itself? I heard it can take up to 100 miles. Anyone had this CEL before?

You will need to clear it. Go to autozone/checker and they will do it for you.

Never had it, but for the CEL. Its true that its not the best to drive with 1 and not know what it is, but As long as its not blinking (blinking = shut car off right NOW!) you should be fine. I'd just take it some place to get the code checked for free cause it could be something else also. From my understanding you need it cleared

Well, it turned itself off today out of the blue. I was driving and it went out. So it's all good.
