your final drive gear is in your rear diff.... and you dont' need to remove your tranny to get to your rear diff...

ok let me explain a lil better lol....someone had told me all the 4.57 gear was , was repacing a gear in the back of the car. I figured I just had to pull the rear end apart. was this guy an idiot because I cant tell whos being sarcastic now lol.

so confused! Fridays are not for me.

i wasnt being sarcastic... the 4.57 youre referring to is the final drive gear which is located in your diff... You have no need to remove your transmission for that...

mike stop listening to cytokin (anthony)

the final drive gear which is what you want to change from 4.1 to 4.57 is in your rear differential..... you DO NOT need to remove the transmision to get to this....

Anthony..... it's cool I know you were just trying to help. I didnt specify final drive gear...I just said gears, but thanks to the others for verifying I was right about something lol. Maybe my brain can handle Fridays after all.

In the AP1 S2000's a tranny upgrade would be switching to the AP2 Tranny (2004 & 2005 models).

A gear upgrade occurs in the rear differential.

Clutches include a few parts: the clutch itself, flywheel, disc, etc...


If you upgraded all three areas you would have a quicker car but none of these produce power changes. If anyone needs an explanation as to what the difference between a "power" and a "quick" modificaiton is, just ask.
