Default Front Plate gone in '07?

There was a thread along with an online petition on here some months ago that said there was a motion before the VA legislature to do away with the front license plate requirement. Last I heard, the cops were against that idea, and everybody else was for it!! Has anybody heard what has happened to that, if anything? I'd be a happy camper if that requirement were to go away. I see quite a few 'vettes who drive without one, but I haven't had snardleys big enough to that myself. (Just another reason to get a ticket....like we need that!!!)

hahaha, snardleys....

I read about this in a thread a couple weeks ago. I think right now it is a proposal pending approval. I could be wrong. Any Virginians have info about this?

This bill comes up almost every year and dies in commitee. The General Counsel for the VA Department of Transportation (or something like that) lives 2 doors down from me. I met him for the first time a few weeks ago. I didn't ask him about the current bill, but did ask him in general "why does it keep getting shot down". He said that the police argue against the bill based on that if a crime is committed "they can see a lot more plates coming towards them than going away".

This is the first year VADA is standing against front plates. VADA is the second largest Virginia Lobbying group.....second to tobacco.

technically they will save money... they'll cut the budget in half for producing plates... cause we'll only need one plate instead of two...
