I am old and would put the S in commercial moving van and pay them to get it here. Fly here first class and take a taxi to my new home. That is just how I roll.
You couldn't find a better bunch of S2KI folks anywhere.
01S2KBROSNAN,
I haven't found a place in Anne Arundel to live yet, but my company is giving me 30 days temp lodging. Thats enough time to look for a place once i get there.
WhrDLMI,
I will probably take the I-70, but i'll check the weather in Colorado before I leave.
What part of Cali will you be leaving from ? if you coming out of Socal take 40 to 44 to ST. louise and pick up 70, then you miss the rockys all together. if your coming out of nocal just take 70 and watch the weather. niether are bad roads. the lower you get in the states the worse the roads are. like I20 the roads suck, I40 a little better, you get the point. driver safe and welcome again

I-70 is the most strait but you have to get over the 11,000 Vail pass in Colorado. If you are just in your car you won't have any problems but trucks and anything towing anything else will.
Winter has come early out there and Vail Pass is a sketchy stretch if it is snowing regardless of what you are driving.
I'd opt for a more southern route, then come up through Appalachia to Maryland. Maybe hit up Deal's Gap in Tennessee on your way up?
You may want to reconsider your route through CO. This is what my friends Patty and Jerry from SoCal encountered when they attempted to leave Durango after our minimeet out there - a snowstorm at about 10,000 ft on Sun am Oct 4 as they were attempting to drive to Aspen. A very hairy sitch. That's Jerry's car in front. She took the pic from hers. They got down off the mountain and took another route, but it was scary! Good luck with your trip. That's quite a change from HI to MD.
