It will clear itself, assuming the condition that caused the CEL is corrected, in 3 drive cycles. To be safe I wouldn't just disconnect the battery to clear it, at least find out what it is first.

Understand that simply tightening the gas cap (assuming that is the thrown code)...does not 'turn off' the CEL. The CEL has to be reset...either by use of the code reader, or by pulling the (+) lead from the battery terminal & waiting a few minutes prior to reconnecting to the battery. Note: If you have a stock radio, you'd want to know the radio code in order to reset it later prior to pulling the battery cable.
There is a fuse for the ecu which you can pull and reset CEL's without resetting your radio. I don't remember which one off hand, but it's mentioned somewhere in UTH.

Just to safe, I am goign to have FASTSIIK look at my car soon to see if he can get the error code, or reset it. He is actually close to where I live, which is Reston.

Just being safe would've been going to autozone two days ago, and having them scan it (for free)

Not that FASTSIIK won't be able to do it. I just wouldn't have waited so long. It's such a simple thing to check.

If you have no idea what is going on, you should have driven directly to Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, pick the parts place, and had it checked. Just because it isn't flashing, meaning impending doom, doesn't mean you aren't risking getting to that point. It if flashes, you will need to to shut it off on the spot.

Get it checked, or walk. The best thing you can do, is learn some basic mechanical skills and buy and ODBII tester.

These are skills that will last you a lifetime.

May still be a good idea to see what it was. Next time, it may come up blinking.

But either way, good to see it's gone.
