I think we need to have some RBVs (Red Bull & Vodka....skip's favorite drink) and watch some movies.

Lookin very nice! I'm in the market to buy a big screen HDTV ... But I think I might wait until some of the new units just announced at CES are available. (Samsung DLP using LED lighting instead of a color wheel, or the new SXRDs with 1080p input and an improved optical system)

Wish I could do something like you are with making a dedicated home theatre. I just wired up my new receiver in my living room and its pretty crappy looking ... but it works

RB&V in big tumbler = Steve, pick your time, brah!

I'm trying to hold off on getting a new dvd player for the same reasons- new technology. And yes, the sets coming out will be better, but I had my previous tv almost 4yrs. I figure in another few years, I can relocate it to the bedroom or sell it. Then I can tear the house apart again!

It's not truly a dedicated home theater because it doesn't utilize a projector and won't have the proper acoustical treatments. But it will be more than adequate for our needs.

Our old Pio supported 1080i. Problem was the lack of programming back then. Even today, it lacks. Our bedroom tv is nothing special, but it is a 27" HDTV- monster of a thing. Thanks for the props.

I can't wait for PS3.

Fobby, nice meeting you last Sunday... and the eats. I still owe you. Yes, I've accomplished a fair bit since last week. I'm not working on anymore framing until after the Bengals play Sunday. Since the tv was hung for fit, I decided to leave it in place for the games. Instead, I started sponging the mudding on the drywall. That will save me a ton of sanding. My goal is still to have 'er done before Feb. 5.

Looking good skip. Does that fireplace actually put off any heat?
Mark, did you amend your post?

Yes, it can run as flame-only or with heat. I ran it on full heat today to see if if was going to be a problem. With everything open in the back- no problem. As for the front, the blower throws the heat out far enough that the front of the plasma will not roast. The frame of the tv was not warm while the screen itself was its normal temp.

The plan has been to use some insulation around the fireplace back just to be on the safe side. Although I framed the section around the tv to be relatively open, I'm still going to drill a couple of holes in the top plate above it. Additionally, I might leave a hole of sorts exiting toward the a/v/laundry area. Because I'm paranoid about some things, I'll probably hook up a fan and run it so it draws air out.

Quoting so as to hold you to it later!!!

Thanks, Peter. If you have experience texturizing ceilings, I'll gladly take some advice and/or help. I want to complete all the framing/"building" first, but I'm dying to get those new seats out of their boxes and watch some action films.
