Nope sorry, Skip. No experience in texturing celings, that takes creative skills. I can do drywall though.

I started sponging the mudding on the drywall. That will save me a ton of sanding
That is the only way to go. Faster, less mess and leaves the mud with a texture that matches the drywall.

If you need somebody to test out the seats, etc. and the sound/picture when you're done, please select a nice PG movie and I'll be on my way. j/k great looking job, Skip. I'm sure you and your family will enjoy this.

I used too much mud in the corners(wall-to-ceiling). I feel like I'll be in a Snickers' commercial...

Walls will be painted the same color as was test painted before- navy-ish/dark blue. Contemplating having the ceiling the same color with a complimentary color(tan/sand) for crown moulding/baseboards.
After viewing some material yesterday, the ceiling will most definitely be painted to match the walls. With the higher position of the screen, the light emitted from the set reflects brightly off the ceiling. Glad I caught this before moving everything back into the room.

I wish I had the option of painting the ceiling as I have the same problem. The screen is even below some boxed in ductwork which is painted a dark brown to match the screen wall. But, with a screen the size I've got, the ceiling still lights up like a Christmas tree!

It's looking great Skip. Keep up the good work and the payoff catches up in the end. By the way: I think I found the chairs that I want to flank my couch. It is the iJoy 130 and I spent no less than 20 minutes sitting in it zoned out at Bed Bath & Beyond while the +1 shopped However, at the price they want for it... maybe after I make my first million.

Good call. That's my top choice right now. Unless I go cheap and want a 37" flat panel Sceptre LCD. 1080p and only $1600 from Costco.
