Could be, but the organizers usually select student/instructors based in part of the scheduling requirements. Don't worry though, NASA Mid-A instructors are a good group and you will learn a lot about high performance driving.

Don't feel bad, he won't get in my car either.

And actually, I'm guessing an instructor would rather get in a stock S2000 than a modified one. Bad things can happen faster and at a higher rate of speed.
bad things happen at any speed....
i like ones guys sig..
hp is how fast you hit the wall, tq is how far you move it after hitting it
besides, been in two s2k akkidentz, my rollover on the street, and as an instructor at SP turn 9

Actually, the worst car from an instructors standpoint is prbably the spec factory Five Cobras. Convertibles don't rank highly on the list of cars instructors love to get in because safety concerns are sometimes an issue (is this cage preoperly installed? are there backing plates and 8.8 bolts etc).
The S2000 has high limits and is reasonably well balanced when you know what you are doing but a lot of folks driving the S2000 are coming from a FWD background and that makes things....exciting.
I don't really have a problem getting into a students car if I know that the rollbar is a real rollbar and is properly installed.
The worst car I ever instructed in was some type of modified Mach something Mustang. it had around 450 hp and the brake bias was set way towards the rear so that the car would lock up the rear brakes way befor the fronts causing the tail to swing around every time the brake pedel was hit. I had a father and son team driving that car and both went off (son several times). The car was pretty undrivable.
Spec Miata and other race cars are tough to instruct in because they are so loud that even with a chatterbox it id hard to communicate.
Some of the easier cars have been BMW M5, Audi R6, because they have great brakes, lots of understeer and comfy seats.
