I've had really pleasant experiences with Montgomery County cops, for the most part. The city cops I've run into seem to have some sort of complex (G'burg, Rockville). But they're like any other people - you're going to run into a whole bunch of a-holes in any line or work or general everyday experience.

state troopers have what I call an open door policy......if they open their door, you are getting a ticket..

I actually had a good encounter with a cop today! I was driving home from work, per usual, in an area that usually has cops so I'm checking out the spots and don't see anything, continue on @ 45 (apparently). I'm not checking my speed or anything just cruising and then I see them. Up ahead on the right. Not in a usual spot. Damn. Oh well they got me fair and square. He flags me down and pulls me over.

And as he's doing this he also flags down a DSM Montero one left to the left that had been going fast(er). He says he radared me going at least 45 and wasn't sure which of us was going faster. At first I didn't know what he was talking about cause the Montero had been significantly behind me, but then it all clicked. I said Sir my registration is in here (pointing to the secret compartment) and he just says no no its okay I don't need all that. Just slow down and have a nice day. Didn't even have to get that OR my license out. Nice cop FTW! First time I've actually felt right saying thank you to a cop that pulled me over (I was speeding after all)
