ultimately it comes down to peace of mind. although small, the tct is a critical engine part. the best I can do is assure you that the part is in perfect working order, give you a massively discounted price, and guarantee your money back if you're not satisfied. i'm in fairfax too so if you want to take a look first we can meet up.

i've just had this part in my house for so long and i never thought I'd get rid of it.

i did some more research and found that almost everyone who changed their TCT was using mobil 1 at the time, im using mobil 1 myself, whats another synthetic oil thats better than mobil 1? i also did my map whack today and seems like my car doesnt stumble anymore.

I use Castrol full synthetic but not sure if it is really better than Mobil 1. Anyway I think a lot of that is always up for debate.

I would purchase a new TCT since they tend to come apart when removing them...

My part is actually fully assembled. It's not as tricky as people make it out to be.

U can get a tct from hardtopguy for a little over a hundred bucks i do believe! Install takes like 10 min! Remove 3 bolts take old one out put new one back in! Reinstall the 3 bolts to spec remove the plug so you can pull the pin out. Pull the pin and screw the plug back in and ur done!

Oh, yea... The TCT is driven off of oil pressure so oil condition affects how well it works. I know mine clicks at start up if the engine is warm. Warm engine means that the oil is thin and that the oil pressure is down. This is probably why the noise went away when you changed your oil.

I am willing to bet that your TCT is on its way out and that changing your oil is just a band aid. Keep listening to it. It will tell you when it is time for a new one.

should i take the chance of doing WTD without putting a new one in because i know it'll be a couple days of driving hard. i need to a do transmisson fluid change and valve adjustment as well before the event, have a lot of valve train noise.

after i switched to amsoil sythetic 10w30 and BG moa the TCT noise went away its been about a week and have driven the crap out of it.
i guess ill just leave it alone unless it happens again, looks like a common problom with TCT's going bad for ppl that use mobil 1, i can also say the car starts up and runs better with amsoil
I'm glad everything worked out. I wonder what it is about Mobil 1 that causes this problem. Do you have any links to sources?
