Default Illegal exhaust in MD?

Anybody have the exact information about the law concerning exhaust systems in MD? I was pulled over last night in Chevy Chase by officer "had nothing better to do".

did he give you a ticket?? if so....take that to your local police station, and they'll give you the law code.. then you go to your local library and look up the code and you'll get your law....

No, he charged me my no front plate yearly tax, and gave me a verbal warning on the exhaust, and a threat that if he ever saw me in Bethesda with the same exhaust, he would ticket me.

well. i guarantee he'll never see you again... nor remember you...... if you still really want to find out call up your local police department.. they should be able to find some type of law code for you to go look up at the library...

As long as it passes smog testing, I'm not aware of any other exhaust laws at the state level. Local laws may be different. Next time I would ask the cop, you have the right to do that.

Yes, I do have the Tanabe Duals, and they aren't that loud. While I was sitting there, 8 cars drove by with much louder exhausts than mine.

As far as asking, I did, his answer was that if it's not original, it's illegal.
