When I was 18, I bought a 95 Integra GSR that I found for like 5 grand, lol. Man, if I could have had an S2000 at 18...
My first car was a '72 Nova for $450. My first vehicle in the Marine Corps was a '62 VW bus for $900. You all live on Easy Street.

The first car that I paid for was a 7-year-old '88 Sentra with 190k for $1600.

I remember when I first got the S2000. My '00 Berlina...I was just 22 years old...but insurance rates were "low" then. I mean, my wife's Accord V6 sedan was higher on insurance than my S2000.
Of course...it only took a few years for the insurance claims from other drivers to come pouring in to make those rates go up, up, up.
Now...with lower priced S2000s and inexperienced drivers at the wheel of some of those cars...minus some maturity for driving...folks who can't afford new rear tires...or choose to ignore them...add in some "ego" for the drivers showing off...you get S2000s wrapped around trees, other cars and buildings.
Resulting in higher premiums for everyone...especially younger drivers.
It is what it is. It makes sense. Don't worry...you'll get older soon enough.
