Good point - can you rent guns at the NRA or Blue Ridge joints? I'm assuming *most* of us don't have an arsenal of our own to bring along.

The NRA range doesn't rent guns, so if you all want to try out a few different weapons we may have to try elsewhere. I've been to Blue Ridge Arsenal and that place is a complete shithole compared to the NRA range, but comparable in price. Poor ventilation, not very bright on the range...Don't know if they rent guns there or not, but if they do, I'll go along with you all of course.

As for the NRA range,I think as a member I can bring guests, or maybe one guest. Worse case scenario, you all join the NRA for $25 and get $12 range fees like me. Oh, you'll also get a shitload of propganda in your mailbox

Chris: the P239 is so accurate to shoot, I feel like a sharpshooter with it Even my wife shot very well with it. I have rubber combat grips and trijicon night sights BTW, chambered for .9mm for cheap shooting

I don't need to rent any guns, I have a full arsenal in the trunk of my car. OK, maybe not. Wherever we go, it's definately has to have rentals.

Just to clarify what that original estimate of $80 includes...

$30 monthly membership (required)
$10/hr range time
$15 handgun rental
$13-15/box ammo (est 2-3)
$2-3 targets and eye/ear protection

1/2 hour safety course to start, 30 or so lanes @ 75ft
good ventilation, decent lighting, good staff... good selection of rentals
(incl. Kimber 45, Kasul 454, 44mag, Sig, H&K, Beretta, S&W, Glock, rifles,
shotguns and more) And if anyone wants to pop the cash ($75 rental?):
Tommy gun, MP5, Uzi, AR15... full auto.

I can talk to my friend who works there to see if there's some sort of "group discount"... it's a nice place

ok... they've got an established group rate...

$50 + ammo for groups of 10 or more... works out to about the same I guess...

Includes:
- 2 hrs classroom use
- introductory safety course
- 1 month membership
- 1 hour handgun rental
- eye/ear protection
- 2 targets

So that's that.

Like ElTianti said, On Target in Jessup is $15/hr (not $10) with no membership required. I always bring my own targets & ammo, so it's cheap enough. If you go the membership route, it's expensive, around $150, but includes unlimited range time.

They have rentals, but I've never looked at what's available. Like everywhere else, insurance requires ammo to be bought at the time of the rental. I don't know about lessons & classes.

Cost aside, I live 10 minutes away, so it just generally makes better sense to go there

I already have plans to meet someone there next tuesday 26 feb around 4:30p.

Anyone else on this side of the state?

chris.

This Rifle and Shotgun merit badge holder don't need not stinkin' instruction.
I need a range and a target. Oh yeah and a gun, but I got one of those.

On target is a good deal, they have a good selection of rental guns for you non- gun nuts out there. I'm a "card carrying" NRA lifer, but I haven't been to the new NRA place in Fairfax. I haven't been to Gilbert in a long long long time, but they were expensive back then also. I'm definitely up for some blasting. My local outdoor range has been shutdown for some time now because parks and planning decided to run a hiker-biker trail next to it.
