Default Looking for help w/ valve adj. someone w/ exp.

Hey guys,

I'm hearing a slight tap (valves) from my engine, especially when cold. Anyone thats done a Valve Adjustment willing to help me through my first one. I want someone to walk me through. I live in Calvert County and am willing to meet someone. I will also pay the person for their services. Any experenced S2000 mechanics out there I need your help.

Car has about 26K miles. 2002

You may want to get ahold of Billman250 as well as read This Thread on Valve Adjustments.
After reading that i took my vehicle to a local Honda Dealer and had them do it for me. After the rough tapping i had and knowing my vehicle is used (so i dont know how previous driver did her) and being at 70k miles, i just felt it would be better to have a professional do it and take a deep look at it.

Thanks Chad, my only concern is the mechanics in my area. My best friend SooZooKa is a technician at Audi and I see how bad all the techs. there beat on cars. Especially S4's. That makes me leary of letting other people touch my car. I will contact billman though, Thanks again.

Another possiblity would be Hardtopguy. I think they are in Ohio. His mechanics did a bunch of valve adjustments at Fall Colors in October.

Unfortunately, I can not think of any local place that I would consider for this.

I plan on picking up the "special tool" that is used to do the valve adjustment and do it myself in the spring. I saw the guys at Fall Colors using one and it seemed to make it easier. I have a 1994 trooper with 160,000 miles that needs a valve adjustment that I'm going to use to practice on.

I've done a bunch of valve adjustments on OHV Chevy's - those you do while the thing is running. I've also adjusted valves on motorcycles, which seems to be basically about the same procedure as on an overhead cam car engine - loosen a lock nut, and adjust the valve lash with a screwdriver.

If things go okay when I do the Trooper and on my S, maybe I'll do a tech day in the spring. Sorry, I won't have time to do it sooner.

We've done a Valve Adjustment Day at my house this year. If you still need one done, contact me and we'll see if we can get together. The problem with driving to someone's house is that the car has to be cold.

I'd be down to do this too, if you don't mind me tagging along.
