Jeremy,

Sorry, I missed your post earlier. It looks like 9/18 is going to work better for the group since a bunch are going to the O's. (it actually works better for me than 9/11).

I'm no expert on the intervals as to when we should do this - the folks on the under the hood forum seem to have some strong opinions on this. I've got an MY04 with 5000 on it. The big reason I'm doing this is that I'm going to Fall Colors and will be abusing it on the track and wanted fresh stuff in it before then.

If you can't make it 9/18 I'll let you know what the oil looks like coming out of mine and you can decide if you want to change yours. I'm sure that we will be taking a bunch of photos showing what the oils look like at various ages and mileages.

I'm sure we'll be doing something like this again or PM me and I can lend a hand on another weekend. After 9/18 there should be a bunch of folks with experience in the area, maybe even one closer to you.

John
Ahh. Too bad I won't be able to make it, but I look forward to hearing all about it afterward. I'm signed up for Fall Colors as well, so I'll definitely have to take your results into account before October.

Thanks Steve, ur such a pal! I am forever in debt to you... Do you want my hotel reservations, as well?

Do you need a car to drive, too? You can take my S up to the city, and bless my suspension with NYC's awsome streets!

9/18... I'll be there!

Thanks!! That is a great deal. I'll offer it up to the group and make the buy for everyone that is interested! How should I go about placing the order?

I figure I'll set the cut off the Tuesday after Labor Day and place the order for the group then. That will give 2 weeks to for the stuff to get here.

Are you going to make it to Fall Colors this year?

Thanks again!!

At the moment I am unable to edit the original post, hopefully that will be resolved or someone can cut and paste this into the first post.

The Mini Tech day will be held at my house on 9/18 from 9am to whenever we get done. I'll post directions closer to the date.

Hardtopguy.com has offered free shipping and a great deal on LE-607 ($10.00qt ) and Honda MTF $3.15qt along with the washers. I am willing to make the buy for the group, let me know if you are interested and the quanties desired. Pending Hardtopguy's approval for the shipping time, the cut off date will be Tuesday, September 7 for me to make the buy.

I have the shop manual, floor jack and four matched jack stands (along with two other jack stands) If someone can bring either four jack stands that match or two and hope they are close to my old ones we can do two cars at a time - we need to keep the cars level to get the right amount of oil in them. I also have torque wrenches, and the correct metric sockets and open end wrenches to do the job.

You'll need

Oil for the tranny and differential - remember they are different - check the oil journals for more info. It is getting late, I'll look up the quantities required later. Let me know if you want me to order it for you.

Washers for the tranny and differential. Once again, let me know if you want me to order them.

If we get a bunch of people I may need some help getting rid of the used oil. I'll try to save some old milk jugs, but I don't know how much oil the auto parts store will take from one person.

Thanks!!

John

Just let me know what you will need. I will need to order in the MTF since I only stock a couple cases a week. I have plenty of washers in stock. You can PM me when you are ready to order.

I have personally done both in one day not long ago. I can help you all out too. obviousely i do not need diff/tranny fluid change, but i need the coolant flush change....anyone who's coming here can do this for me? i scratch your back and you scratch mine? also anyone knows how to adjust the height of the clutch pedal?

take care you all
John
John,

I don't see why we couldn't knock out a coolant change and clutch pedal adjustment while we're at it. I've got the shop manual so we should be able to figure it out. I think Skip had a post on his experience with a coolant change - you might want to find that one to see what he learned - I don't remember the specifics..

The only thing that I'm lacking for a coolant change is a catch pan big enough to handle it. If you can bring a pan large enough we can do it. As far as what to use to do the flush, you're on your own. I haven't had to do that in a long time so I don't know what is out there - many years ago I used to use some product from Prestone to flush.

I did a quick scan of the manual for clutch pedal adjustment and it looks pretty straight forward.

It's about time I did a coolant flush as well, so if coolant flushes are on the agenda then I'm down. Xviper wrote up a pretty good DIY on it.

Any interest in changing the clutch and brake fluid?

Count me in guys, and sign me up for everything in the group buy.

John: let me know how I should pay you.

Dirty: I am at the 30k maintenance mark: I will do all the fluid changes with you, but I do not have any experience doing them...

Thanks
Mike

As far as adding coolant changes and brake/clutch fluid changes, that is fine by me. I'd like to knock out all of the differential/transmission oil changes first. Once we get those done we can do the coolant changes and brake & clutch fluid flushes as long as we have time.

If you're doing a coolant change, I'd need you to take the used coolant with you. Each car done will create nearly 2 gallons of used coolant, so please bring something with you to get rid of the old coolant. I don't want to have to try to figure out how to get rid of that much used coolant!
