Moving Out
Question might seem a tad bit recockulous, but I would like to get some help anyways.
Anyways, most of you (especially the locals) have met my good friend Joe. Basically he is one of few friends who i actually trust & believe is financially mature enough to move out. One of the main reasons i am 22 and still living at home, is because i dont have anyone i trust enough to move out & my credit is really important to me. Well anyways, Joe finally got a job advancement that is good enough to move out so i'm looking to get out of the parents house & into my own.
I know the obvious stuff: rent, water, heat, electricity.. but what other things are bills and responsibilities come with moving out ? I dont want a crazy smack in the face 1 month after moving out with something i didnt expect.
thanks

FOOD, phone, cable, gas (if you have gas apliances)
i dunno if it's the same down there as it is up here.. but if you happen to move into an apartment or a condo a lot of the places include electricity, water, heating, gas in the rent bill so you don't have to worry about it....
either way.. good luck...

make sure you keep enough cash around so that if one of your appliances goes (fridge, stove, water heater, etc.) you will be able to cover a replacement. i learned that the hard way recently and now have some debt i should have planned for.
It is very expensive when you first move out... you have to buy dressers, beds, tv's, couch's, pots and pans, dishes, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, and the list oges on forever... Plus then you have to buy stuff to do your own laundry
Most places you will rent will come furnished with appliances, so that shouldnt be a problem; other then microwave.

I'd also consider getting renters' insurance. No joke.
While at home, your possession are covered under your parents' home policy.

Renters insurance and condoms I agree with. Renter's insurance might break down to like $10 a month.
this is a good list of things to expect (maybe not necessarily monthly, but don't forget to add it all together). Lots of apartment complexes know how much electric/gas/water bills are. You can also do budget billing for electric/gas to make sure you are pretty much spending the same amount each month.
rent
Electric/gas
water (most places include water)
food (not only food in the house, but going out spending money)
cell phone bill
home phone
cable tv
cable internet
renters insurance
fuel (for car)
insurance for car
furnishings for the apartment
movers or beer/pizza for friends
credit card bill
