hmmmm... when i did my own suspension, i didnt need the compressors mainly because i went with a short spring. But i didnt need spring compressors to dissasemble the oem shocks and springs. and they dont pop apart like you think they would.

well the problem is i was trying to remove the top hat and stupidly did so while the strut was still on the car not thinking of course, the problem is still pretty bad as its stuck there and i tried to put a spring compressor (got the kind u guys mentioned) and it won't grip very well

I've never had to use spring compressors on lowering springs.... but hey, if you want to put yourself in danger and remove oem springs w/o a compressor, be my guest, I'm not your mother

did you disconnect the lca bolt yet? what about the top hat bolts?
