Also, I look at brakes as their job is to stop me first, not assist in acceleration. If, after the main purpose is served, the second can be addressed, then bonus.

If I may be so bold as to express my view on the matter...

If you want a hardtop, then yes, put one on. If you're thinking of just removing the softtop for the winter and replacing it in the spring, then I say, while it may be an educational experience, it will undoubtedly be a waste of time beyond any eductional value.

Our winters are not long. They are usually sprinkled with some 70-80* days. On those days you will want to throw it in every SUV-owner's face that you're taking in the sun to the fullest whilst they are trudging along in their big boxes. Besides, if winter is truly "winter," are you going to be traveling at speeds where you are concerned with weight removal and the effects it might have on your acceleration? I would hope not, otherwise we end up reading about how someone's tires were too cold to grip the road sufficiently.

Last bit, that softtop and tray help reduce cabin noise. Remove them and you now need to turn the stereo up a bit more, talk a little louder, etc.

oh i was just ranting.. hahahah i love my babie.*wifeY*. if she told me one day she wanted the vert out of the car and the hard top back on, i'd do it all over again..... SPECIALLY now that i know what i'm doing and how Simple it is.......believe me its a VERY simple job.....just time consuming......takes a good 6 hours or so to take out the panels, unbolt the motor and skeleton and take it out, put the new soft top on after taking the old one off, and putting everything back in......so make sure you have a good long day to do so. But if your just taking it out the car, it'll shave some time off for you.

So if i were you, take it from me...........leave the vert in. Just get the hard top. and take it off when you want to. Its not worth it...

if your gonna take it out.....leave it out.........it does make a noticeable difference in weight though. So you have to decide what you wanna do. But man........when i had my hard top on, and you look at the car with the oem wing, oem lip, and the oem hood vented..........man its HOT. hell......oem hood vented now is hot.....

aahhh...................let me rephrase this...........ITS NOT WORTH IT......IF....you cant make up your mind and cant live without the vert.

"I" on the other hand have NO problems having only the Hard Top....it is the WIFEY that says she wanted it back.

Other than that..........i wouldnt have gone back........i will still forever love the hard top and if i could only keep it on and not go top down, i would.

Not saying top down isnt nice....i have been enjoying it for the last few days...........but that doesnt mean if i still had the Hard top, i couldnt just take it off and still enjoy the fresh air.............i just cant do it at will....cuz of places i go, or the weather....thats it =P
