New Guy Looking for S2000.. Help Please?
So between you guys and some friends. I have decided to not buy the car. I decided to not look at it so I won't be tempted. Your right it is just not worth the risk at this point. I am thinking what will be best for me is to look for one with high mileage, that way I can fulfill my dream of working on the engine and whatever else may need to be done without the hassle of the title.
Experience wise since I was not clear, my first car was a 1995 Civic that I took apart with my father and rebuilt the engine, then a 1997 Civic before I landed with my Ford Contour SVT I drive now. So yes I am mechanically inclined, but in no way would I claim to be an expert.

This was mine, sold it right after I purchased my S

Oh and to add to the current conversation, I wouldn't buy a salvaged S either. These cars with their ultra stiff chassis are very sensitive to things like frame damage.
I'd pass and buy one of the multitude of clean ones available. There are plenty of good deals to be had. The nice thing about the S is it's really a very low maintenance car, and it's pretty easy to work on when things need to be fixed. So enjoy the fact you can put the top down and spend more time driving it than under it
Howdy guys,
Havent posted here in awhile, but thought I'd chime in on this thread. I think you made a wise choice by not buying the salvage S2k. There could be all kind of hidden costs from structural damage, stress cracks and electronic gremlins. If it were my money, I'd probably look into this:

$4500 for an S2000 that looks to be in okay shape that needs an engine. Might even be able to get it cheaper. And if it were me, and it checked out in person, I'd pick up a low mileage AP2 engine ($2500-3k) to drop in this baby and enjoy the best of both worlds.
Cheers.
