Newbie Buying/Haggling Thread
There's a lot of love here...
I'd like to buy the world a coke and teach it to sing in perfect harmony, too, and I'll give you a chance to make a trip to Columbia, beyond the edge of the map with the sea monsters and giant squid, worth my while. jeez, i wish i could buy a car from each of you!
but i'm only buying one car. driveway space, you know. if the s2ki special is the right price, it's the right price. right now i'm trying to get an idea of what that price would be. nobody's corrected my numerical assumptions in the first post so I guess that's a valid benchmark.
i bought a honda SUV last year and had to walk out of the first dealership. The guy started with MSRP and went waaaay up. "It's a very popular car!" I pulled out an internet special for the exact same car and he crossed out all the b.s., took a new sheet, and got to within 60 bucks of the price. I was like, dude, I'm going there next, he's going to go BELOW that internet special price. You've got to at least match him, I'll drive five miles for sixty bucks. Ripoff Honda said they'd go lower but only if I commit to get it from them, I was like, f' that, and I walked. The internet special dealership was very professional, no bull. They negotiated a bit and got the business.
Obviously I ain't going back to Ripoff Honda for anything, but I'm also not married to the guy who sold me the last car. That's why I'm here. Just looking for a fair price and not to be treated like Clark Griswold buying the Family Truckster. Even if you toss Christie Brinkley into the mix.
