There is also a Metro station (Blue Line) at Franconia/Springfield. If you could rent a place within walking distance to that, you'd be good to go by subway.
this is critical imo... If at all possible live very very close to a subway station

I'd stay the hell away from Adams Morgan... that place is going south with a quickness...

For something nice in close proximity to Springfield, I would look in Alexandria (Duke St, Edsall Rd, or Van Dorn St. area)

Monthly parking in a private garage that has 24 hour access for me in DC is $125 a month not sure if thats too much but its something to get you started and I trust everyone else who parks there most people are employees of that building with there name plaques on the wall and their job title I dont have 1 no need to shell out another $70 a month just for a reserved space it doesnt get full and it has a space to wash your car

Springfield and Adams Morgan (right downtown DC) are 13 miles apart, but it's a long 13 miles when traffic is heavy on 395/95 (which is often). I'd not recommend living in the city or near. You are better off living in/near Springfield and driving into town for fun. There is also a Metro station (Blue Line) at Franconia/Springfield. If you could rent a place within walking distance to that, you'd be good to go by subway.
+ it's right next to the Springfield Mall, lots of apartment and condos around too and it's located very near 95/395/495.

Cool, when I worked in downtown Charleston. I paid for a parking spot and it was $100 a month. And a place to wash my car, that sounds pretty good to me. I will be using the metro as much as I can. Thanks guys!
