Default PoS Daily Driver Recommendation?

I'm may no longer be working out of town and will either need to drive my S2k everyday or buy a beater for between 1.5-3k. The S has been spoiled lately and although I wish I could drive it everyday, I would rather put miles, salt, chipped paint, etc on something else. ...figured i would get a 90ish civic with high miles.

Anyone out there have a beater of choice that you didn't have to sacrifice potential s2k mod money to keep it running?

Thanks

Well I had a 99 Integra LS for a beater. It just ended being a distraction. I wanted to slowly build my S but ended up putting almost 10,000 into the integra. The bad part is that my integra lost an axle and rolled twice before it flew into water. It sank and itz dead now. Lost all the parts and itz totaled. Insurance will only pay the stock value of it.

Herez my recomemdation. Carz a car. Even thought I remember myself being extremely anal about the S, it's now my new daily driver. And I work in a mall so itz always parked where people can hit it. (so far no damages). But Itz like the feeling you get when you work on your car. You'll appriciate it more if you do your own work. Besides as I see it everything takes time. Even learning to drive the S. I get a feeling of advancement after drive with the S. I say just drive it like you stole it.

If your seriously considering a beater than go for something you know you won't build. Civics will tempt you seriously. Go get a metro hahahaha.

Don't laugh but I've owned 2 Chevy Z24 and they been great
cars. My 98 is at 85K miles and besides oil changes I've put on
one set of brakes (after a track day) and I had a water pump
replaced. The Quad 4 2.4 ltr makes 150hp and 155 lbs/ft of
torque on reglular gas and its gets 30+mph on the highway.

They're cheap to get and cheap to keep

i paid $400 for my hatchback, and it's been a great daily driver for me so far. i'm resisting the urge to mod it, but i see a b16a in my near future unfortunately

Thanks for the replys guys......

With the tight budget, I think I might pass all together based on the crap I have seen. I think I may say f the whole thing and enjoy the S and make up for all the days I have missed in the past year. I won't be anywhere near the S on the weekdays if I had a beater due to the job commitment and I don't think I could stomach driving a PoS car on any day thats not raining or warmer than 48 degrees. Can't have the car own me...its not ok to get a paint chip,etc...but sh$t happens.

By the way...i didn't laugh at the chevy Z24, it would put my 87 escort GT i had in college to shame

they're both amazing cars..the bimmer is a little pricy to fix, but the altima is bullitproof
