I declare an HOA rule to get rid of all the ugly people. It makes the community look less attractive. Anyone outside of their BMI should be evicted as well.

Hey I'm starting to like HOAs now!!

Well, i have my car up on stands once with my wheels off and was just putting my new rims on, and this guy pulled up and said i needed to drop my car cause your not allowed to work on cars at my APT. With no rims on my car he was like, "you have ten minutes to drop your car or i will have it towed." Ha. What an ass.

Basically whenever the hood is popped on my car, I am now in fear of being reported for doing mainenance that violates the rules. It's ridiculous.
According to your story you never got in trouble for having your hood popped. You got in trouble for an oil change (which isn't on your list of permissible actions) and leaving car parts in your parking spot.

When you live in a shared community there is a good chance one or more of your neighbors is a hard ass. Don't give them an excuse to make your life miserable.

The condo association where I live are ok, I haven't been written up for anything and they rarely do any 'actions'

Where my GF lives is a whole different ballgame. They are super anal and she even got a $50 fine because I walked my 10lb dog through the lobby instead of carrying it.

Along with that, they charge a $250 'move in fee' to use the loading dock, I'm still wondering what that money actually goes to.

Check this out. My little brothers condo fees went up so that the senior club in the neighborhood would have more money for their trips. His is not a "senior" or "older adult" neighborhood but has a club of seniors, some who are on the board, who like to have lunches and take trips. It was made clear that the money would go into an account to fund the clubs events. BS if you ask me.

Would there be a way to bring that point up at the next meeting or something? You might have to get all the people that think it's wrong to band together and complain.

I'm sure they could do something as there is no legal tie between the HOA and the club but from experience, I think it would be hard to get a group of people together to protest it. He's not that concerned, he figures it keeps them happy.

There are either retired or nearly retired people and young professionals that live there. It just seems the older folks living on retirement can't afford to do the extra things so they have the well paid young bucks (28-40) pay for it for them.

Here's an update.

The president of hoa or some shit was the one who took the headlights and reported me again. Apparently he patrols the condo building like some badass. I can only imagine this guy is some baby boomer douche bag that's all pissed off and needs authority.

So anyways I spoke to a nice and friendly woman (the property manager) about the letter. She said I didn't receive any violations or anything, the letters were merely friendly reminders that I am in the wrong. I told her I would not leave anything out in my parking spot again. But I also told her I might be doing more maintenance on my car(s).

She said it was okay as long as the maintenance does not involve draining or handling fluids (ie brake fluids, oil, coolant). She said she would let the president know I stopped by.

So hopefully I can install some more stuff in the rx7 without being reported. Since all the stuff I want to do does not involve liquids.

I doubt this ****er patrols at 2am (he probably goes to bed at 9pm), so it's probably best, just to be safe, I do the maintenance then.

Funny thing is she mentioned he tends to be very strict, and the way she said it was like "yeah he's a prick, sorry".

That's where you also want to be careful. Most HOAs have a quiet period between 10pm and 8am or something of the sort.

for handling the situation civilized.
