Thanks guys I'll keep you updated. According to them there is a mando 3 mile drive for the inspection. From what I've been able to collect it's all just a visual inspection.
I've contacted a few lawyers nothing yet.
I could be having them pay for a rental car, I'll remind them of this when they bitch about the lawsuit. Saving them a ton driving my truck around. That thing is not a daily.

]If any of you saw my thread about a month ago you'll know I lost my beloved S to an idiot that rear ended me. The car is in my drive way awaiting some love to go full track. I found another from the forums and was happy as hell again.
Well Sophie has died. She was totaled by the shop I took her to for that stupid MD state inspection. Done. I'll be buying her back as well. But am out a car now. I'm not going to be able to pull off another car right now. Hopefully I can salvage some of the parts from the most recent one, it had a ton that is probably all just lost. I'm looking at a lawsuit as insurance is laughable at the actual value. There was a ton of OEM goodies, aftermarket goodies, the new top, and not to mention the brand new windshield I had put in 3 days prior. OEM of course. I'm still trying to piece together what actually happened.
The shop told me they want to make it right but so far are basically just doing nothing and wanting to let insurance handle it. Getting another car in that condition with those parts is not going to be an easy task. Just finding decent S's are becoming harder and harder.
If any of you can provide any recommendations for a lawyer, if you know more about the inspection process or have any other advice it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to tackle all of this and barely have any time for my normal responsibilities so needless to say I am stretched pretty damn thin now.
All of you please enjoy this awesome top down weather for the rest of fall before you put them away! I wish I could join you, hopefully Ill be ready for the spring!

Bit of an update for anyone curious.
The good:
1) I got to snag the car from the shop today. She was just sitting outside getting rained on while the hood is barely on the car. No good. She is now back in her garage where she belongs.
2) I got to look at it in the day a bit more than I have assessed so far. It looks like the frame shouldn't be too hard to straighten but I'm not a frame guy. If anyone knows a place to go (I'm up near Millersville, MD) please shout away.
3) Most of my expensive bits look to be okay. I'm still a bit paranoid about the wheel integrity, and what damage the coilovers might have sustained. But there are no leaks, yet, and all systems seem t be a go. Intake is surprisingly looking unscathed and the radiator.
The bad: I am still fighting with insurance for a fair price. I don't know how market value really works and all of that but USAA's car buying service only has 3 01's within 150 miles and not a single one under 15k. One of them has a pretty graph that says market value is mid 14. I'd like mid 14.
No lawyer has given me much help. And I have confirmed that a road test is required as part of the inspection.
That's about it. Hopefully I can get her back to looking pretty, I'll try my damndest. Steal parts from my other one since that's going full race car at some point.

Yup.
Gianna, the first one is sitting in my garage being completely torn apart. Most of her front end bits are being salvaged for Sophie (the front end pictures above) as she sits at a nearby body shop on the frame machine. The rest of the parts will be frankensteined into a first gen prelude I am slowly resto-modding. I'll most likely then wax up the car wrap it and store it in a corner until I get time and money to tube the rear end and build a full race car.
Oh and one of the seats were salvaged for my racing rig for xbox

As for the insurance....meh I was still kind of lowballed, but got what I could and just settled so I could move on. I lost a "freindship" through the shop and I think the guy still has his inspectors license, but it is what it is. I'll never go back, but hopefully after this next inspection for the salvage title I'll never have to worry about shops again. (I've also come to find out that some reputable performance shops now do inspections. Just in case.)

They don't need to drive the car for MD inspection.
it isn't part of the inspection process. i wish i still had my md inspection ticket from when i had my STi done... it was a checklist of what is done. nowhere on it was a drive indicated.
