Default Seriously!

]If any of you saw my thread about a month ago you'll know I lost my beloved S to an idiot that rear ended me. The car is in my drive way awaiting some love to go full track. I found another from the forums and was happy as hell again.

Well Sophie has died. She was totaled by the shop I took her to for that stupid MD state inspection. Done. I'll be buying her back as well. But am out a car now. I'm not going to be able to pull off another car right now. Hopefully I can salvage some of the parts from the most recent one, it had a ton that is probably all just lost. I'm looking at a lawsuit as insurance is laughable at the actual value. There was a ton of OEM goodies, aftermarket goodies, the new top, and not to mention the brand new windshield I had put in 3 days prior. OEM of course. I'm still trying to piece together what actually happened.

The shop told me they want to make it right but so far are basically just doing nothing and wanting to let insurance handle it. Getting another car in that condition with those parts is not going to be an easy task. Just finding decent S's are becoming harder and harder.

If any of you can provide any recommendations for a lawyer, if you know more about the inspection process or have any other advice it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to tackle all of this and barely have any time for my normal responsibilities so needless to say I am stretched pretty damn thin now.

All of you please enjoy this awesome top down weather for the rest of fall before you put them away! I wish I could join you, hopefully Ill be ready for the spring!

Dude..... That is insane. I previously made a post about something similar.

The shop I had my car inspected out forgot to put on any lug nuts on the front left tire. Nearly fell off as I drove off with it (40mph).

Couldn't imagine what they did to your car... So sorry to hear and please keep us updated! Hopefully you make out on the lawsuit. These shops seriously need to be vetted better. Can't trust any mechanics..

Wow that is seriously messed up. I've heard of it happening a couple times though. Best of luck man finding another one and getting the shop to cover all your expenses and headache.

PS: If that's a RYP and you end up parting it out I'll take that trunk lid off your hands.

Wow that is ridiculous... why were they even driving it. They should be paying for a rental for car you if they aren't already.

so sorry to see that, such a thing would make me sooo angry - i cant believe this

i just took my car yesterday for an inspection - verified with the guy before he got into the car that he knows how to drive a stick,
that he knows where the reverse gear was and that if he has the slightest doubt, he should not get into the car - plus i was standing by the car the whole time.

good luck with getting a good lawyer, this should be the way to go here, especially with the ridiculous insurance offerings I've been seeing here lately.

Thanks guys I'll keep you updated. According to them there is a mando 3 mile drive for the inspection. From what I've been able to collect it's all just a visual inspection.

I've contacted a few lawyers nothing yet.

I could be having them pay for a rental car, I'll remind them of this when they bitch about the lawsuit. Saving them a ton driving my truck around. That thing is not a daily.

They don't need to drive the car for MD inspection.

Ouch. That sucks man. I would definitely tell them you want a rental car. It will a-save you from putting mileage on a gas guzzling truck and b- cost them money everyday so they will hopefully be more inclined to get it resolved quickly. I know in Va if you have a problem you contact the State Police. Did you call the police when it happened?
