I drove from Richmond (VA) to Cleveland (OH) ten days ago and wanting to have a scenic drive I took US33 west out of Harrisonburg eventually getting to Morgantown. When I saw the large DANGER HIGH MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT AREA NEXT [few] MILES I knew it was going to be a great drive! Much new, very smooth pavement.

Darn shame I was driving my new Expedition and not the S2000 (which I'd just dropped at our new home in Chesterfield). Great road across a couple of 3500 foot ridges.

Skyline 2017!

Alright everyone plans are in place. We'll meet at the Dunkin Donuts in Centreville around 9am, I'll likely try and get there by 8am. Time for socializing, getting some breakfast and making sure the cars are ready to go. Around 10am we'll head out and head down I-66W toward Marshall. We'll then get on 647 and take backroads through Flint Hill and Washington and then stop for gas. A few more miles up the road gets us to the Skyline Drive extrance on 211. From there we'll head south on Skyline stopping once or twice to get pictures at the open scenic views.

We'll continue south on Skyline to 33 and then take 340 North to Shenandoah, VA. Where we'll stop at Mamma Mia's Italian Restaurant for lunch. No planned menu, just enough seats for everyone and parking for the cars. Sit, eat, be merry. (Owner's borther used to have a Turbo S so we'll be in good company)

After lunch I'll continue a drive through Fort Valley (not great for slammed cars, rough roads to get there) to I-66E or if you'd prefer you can easily hop on I-81 from the restaurant and head back to I-66 for the quick way back to DC.

Notes: There is a $25/car charge for entry to Skyline Drive. Also, there are many cops on Skyline and 211 especially, one fine state trooper was the reason I sold my last S the last time I went up the mountain. We'll keep speeding to a minimum but I promise fun will be had. When we make turns please ensure the car behind you can see the turn you're making so no one gets lost.

Man last time I went on one of these was years ago. Wonder how many cars will be there. I think we had one where had 30 cars or something.

With last minute people showing up and no shows we're looking at roughly 30 this year. I think we did close to 60 back in 2014.
