Speeding Ticket (Updated)
So there I am, tearing up this rural road in Baltimore County, Maryland on my way to my best friend's wedding. Engine roaring. I'm in full tuxedo garb, A/C on full blast, late as hell. I'm one of the groomsmen and to say it was important to be there is a huge understatement.
I was still about ten minutes away from the church and it was well past the point of when I had to be there.
I go around a quick 35 MPH (posted) bend and ...shit. County cop sitting about 200 yards in front of me. He steps out into the road and waves me over. I can't even explain in words the feelings that were going through me at this point. 60 in a 35. Now my time window is shot to hell.
I really didn't know what to expect. Silver sports car tearing it up on a rural backroad with out of state plates. (Although I grew up in the area for 12 years and knew the roads like the back of my hand). On one side of the coin, I was expecting full sympathy as I was in a tuxedo and had a legitmate excuse. One the other side, 25 over is never a "good" thing and borders on unexcusable. My fate was a cointoss.
The toss erred more on the negative side and he was initially unsympathetic. I gave him my license and registration, apologized, and explained my predicament. He asked where I was going and to what church, and said he will see what he can do. I sit back in my car and start calling every person I know at the wedding to inform them of my situation.
An extremely long 15 minutes later, he slowly walks back to my car and has me sign the ticket. Still 25 over. While he showed no signs of urgency in his response to my situation, oddly he stated, "if you come to court, you have a good chance of getting PBJ". I don't think I have EVER heard of anyone getting PBJ for 25 over...
I made it to the wedding before the cerimony started and it went off without a hitch so frankly, the ticket wasn't really bothering me at that point.
Now, a few days later, I'm looking for opinions on how to handle it. I know that Maryland and Virginia have some license agreements for traffic violations (as do most states that share major beltways). The ticket is $145 and 6 points (i believe). Will these points show on my VA license? I think a lawyer may be my best bet. I could care less about the cost of the ticket, but the points will most definitely leave a financial mark in the long run.
What do you guys think?

i got pulled over in VA on a group drive and to the best of my knowledge my MD license wasn't affected neither was my insurance....and this happened last summer.
if i may ask what roads in baltimore county were they? i love me some backroad balitmore county roads
6 points seems very high for only 25 over. i got nailed going 75 in a 35 and it would have been 5 points and $500 if i wouldn't have taken it to court. i did and got only $200 and 2 points. good luck getting it all squared away

VA points and MD points are on different scales, I think... 25 over in MD is only 2 or 3 pts, you have to be 30 over or over 85 in a 65 to get 5 points in MD.
PBJ in my experience depends largely on the county/judge. In Montgomery County I've never heard of anyone being granted PBJ, but in PG county (Hyattsville) PBJ has been granted many many times.

seriously, I got it for 68 in a 35, went to court PBJ. Then 2 months later boom 53 in a 35, went to court, PBJ again. This happened in Baltimore county on joppa rd. in towson in '03, I get off probation this december. Go to court, it will help.

Of all of the reasons or excuses I can state in court, I think mine is near the top ranks. I've got that on my side. I was wearing a tuxedo for crying out loud!
Consulting a local Balto. Co. lawyer for advice on how to proceed is probably a great idea...

I would kill for that outcome. If this stands at 25 over, when MD reports the ticket back to VA, points will be assessed according to the VA scale, and not the MD scale...6 points.
