Congratulations. Showing respect for the system is appreciated by the court. Thanks for the update. Safe driving!

My reckless was reduced to an improper (4pts + $200). But the lawyer fees added another $750. I should have just gotten a cheap lawyer since all she did was negotiate with the prosecutor. she couldn't even get me off when the cop wasn't there!

well...i now have another ticket, 20 over (speeding, not reckless). I don't know if I should go to court this time since it's my 3rd ticket this year. and if i did go to court i don't think a lawyer will help much. what do you guys think?

I'd go to court. The cop may not show up, or he may show up and lost the ticket, hoping you'll just plead guilty when he steps up to the table. Both situations happened to me.

Another situation, a state trooper speedtrap on I-70, one cop worked the laser gun, another wrote me the speeding ticket. One the court date, only the cop that wrote the ticket showed up, not the one working the laser gun, the one who wrote the ticket didn't witness what speed I was traveling at, thus the state had no case.

I had another situation where a cop was sitting on private property (strip mall parking lot) without the permission of the property owner, case was thrown out.

One time, I was in court and one of the people who went before me was ticketed for 60 in a 30 or 35. The guy already had 5points on his license and the judge made him pay the fine (a couple of hundred don't remember exactly) and gave him 6 months probation. I'd say that guy got off damn easy.

Like I said, I'd go to court.

Regardless, I'm not sure that I needed any help at all. The judge let off one guy going almost 40 over with just PBJ. He was an out of state Hopkins student. I felt so bad for him when he was called to the stand...he walked up and FROZE. He just stood there and didnt move a muscle. Didn't respond to any of the judges questions, no movements, completely stiff. Eventually, the judge states in a very jokingly matter "Come on man! you have to have SOME excuse as to why you were traveling so fast???". Nothing. "All right, looks like I'm not going to get much out of you...your record is clean otherwise so I'll let you off the hook". Amazing.
Do you know the name of this judge?

Update:

Went to court a few weeks ago...dressed to kill. The judge was just about as lenient as I have ever seen. Straight to the point, he gave me PBJ.
Heh. What great luck.

question: i think the way to get a restricted license is 12pts in 12 months. is that right? if so, does the driver improvement (+5) class apply to that, or is it based on demerit points only?
