Yea, take the old one out. Put the new one in. Done. lol.

But in all seriousness, you might want to consult a shop manual or a chiltons/haynes manual before you attempt this yourself if you are mechanically inclined. It should be a relatively easy un/install.

As long as it takes...

...look, sorry, but you're asking what seem to be 'inexperienced' questions. Do yourself a favor and post your starter questions over to this forum below within s2ki.com's website...

S2000 Under the Hood

You should receive reasonable mechanical advice there

Yea... We can be harsh sometimes.

There isn't much tolerance for "open ended," "crying for help" type begging around here. Especially when it is from someone we don't really know.

It isn't that many of us aren't willing to help. Really... It is more that our community is based on a lot of give and take.

You are asking for come take. Where's the give, bro?

Give us some more info on why you are stuck. What your situation is. Whether or not you have ever done this kind of thing before. What your time frame is. Etc, etc, etc. We need details! You might be surprised at how welcoming we can be.

wow...sorry... Im a pretty straight forward person. Not much happened other than the starter went out. Ive replaced starters before on a lexus but that only took 20 mins since it was right on top easy to reach. The s2000 looks alot more difficult thats all. I just wanna make sure i dont get stuck at some point because I am gonna be doin this in my driveway and it is about 35 degrees outside. Thanks you.

You don't need to be sorry, dude... I just wanted to explain.

I am personally no mechanical genius so I can't really offer much technical help. But I can say that, after looking at the manual, it looks like it is going to be a little bit of a PITA because you will have to pull the auto-tensioner and the alternator jut to get at the starter.

Nothing I would consider ugly, though... No fluids to deal with... No lines to bleed... No 200 foot pound bots... Etc.

Good luck! Let us know how you made out...

On what appears to be a MY2000. I have no doubt there probably would be some 200ft/lb bolts on there after 8 years of driving. That is if it is the original starter.

HA! I wasn't thinking of it like that. All the bolts are spec'd at less then 20 pounds or so.

I have an older Jeep that frustrates me with rusted and damaged fasteners nearly every time I go to work on it. I know EXACTLY what you are talking about.
