I don't have a s2k, nore do I post here regularly, but I can give you some advice. If I were you I would get some good components in the front. Boston makes their pro series (6.5lf) available with an axis mount tweeter. This basically means that you can mount the tweet right over the woofer. I would get the 7995 for your good price. Since the 7995 isn't amplified, and you would want to power the door speakers, look into a good 4 channel amp. Run the fronts off channels 1 & 2 and run the sub off channels 3 & 4 bridged. Look into either the JL 300/4 or the Alpine MRV-F540.

The Alpine is a great amp and has more bang for the buck.

This is what I would reccommend:

Head: Alpine CDA-7995: $your price
Amp: Alpine MRV-F540: $399.99 (www.woofersetc.com)
Fronts: Boston Acoustics Pro 6.5lf: $396.00 (www.woofersetc.com)
Sub: JL 10W3v2 (dual 2 ohm) $159.99 (www.woofersetc.com)
Box: JL stealth box (see above)

You'll be putting about 90W into each door and 200W into the sub.

I think you'll be very pleased with this setup.

Bill.

thanks Bill. I heard the BAs with about 150 being pumped into each and it sounded pretty good. This also had the HU I was looking at... Those are a better deal on those speakers too.

J -

I never did hear what you thought of Skip's setup after your test drive/listen last weekend. Sound good?

Yes it did sound very good but I know I'd want a sub as well...

Uh-huh!

Well mine is still not done. The painter is having to seal and re-seal the enclosure before painting. Pin holes keep showing.

I still think for your application, Jerianna, you ought to consider the Stealthbox. Conveniently removed if need be.

Another thing you can do as far as a sub goes, custom fit the subwoofer in the center of the roll bars. You can only fit a 8" sub in that area but if you do a high powered sub like a JL w7 then you should be happy with the sound

sweetj,

I want the same things from my system and this is what I've done so far:

I've got MB Quart seperates and a Kenwood eXcelon 75x2 amp in my car. I decided to go with the seperates because I didn't like how my leg could sometimes block the highs coming from the door. I had the tweeters mounted in the A-pillars but now I wish I had them in the doors like the >02s. They still sound great, though not as good as they could with better placement. The clarity is excellent although they're a bit loud in the highs with the volume up. A good remedy for this would be to use Lucid's adaptors and upgrade to 6.5s instead of 5.25s. This way the lows can keep up with the highs a little better.

I've also got a Clarion ProAudio HU. I have to say I only bought it because the display matches the dash/gauges perfectly but I have no complaints. The PAC SWI-X keeps the dash controls functional...and I use the dash controls all the time.

And I've got some Kenwood 4.5 coaxials that I'm gonna throw into Lucid's rear panels and run 'em off the spare channels in the HU with no amp. This should give me fuller sound with no worries of blowing them.

For bass I'm looking into an RSX spare tire sub. I don't wanna boom and I don't want lost trunk space so I think this'll be a good solution for me.

Dave

Do you have a picture of this being done? Very curious!

I don't see a W7 in sweetj's future. I believe she stated that she didn't want to spend a ton. Plus, custom anything always cost more. I am, however, very interested in seeing a pic of the 8's installed!
