I am getting you started. I like to drive to VA and use those pristine HOV lanes and virgin sidewalks.

I swear 64 is like driving on a dirt road without the damn dirt!! I've never seen so many potholes and speedbumps in a highway in my life...oh EXCEPT for Richmond the state CAPITOL!! It's worse than down here.... I know one day going to work I passed like 6 cars that had flat tires from potholes all lined up on the bridge before going into the tunnel... the state or transportation department should be responsible for that crap just like with W1ngmans oil pan.... there shouldn't be any questions they should just fix it, They know the damn roads are screwed up but they pull stupid shit like paving good roads instead of paving bad ones..... just dumb dumb dumb!!

^^^Agreed.

Although they have started to repave parts of 64. The have started on parts prior to the HRBT on the east bound side and can I tell you how nice it is to drive on without feeling like evey nut and bolt in my car is coming loose!

It will take time, but I have NEVER seen roads as bad as SOVA. I thought NOVA was bad. I stand corrected.

Dont even get me started on Military, 264. and every other road around here. Nice to see my tax dollars are paving the roads down here.

Well I can vouch for Richmond in stating [somewhat happily] that all three lanes in both directions of the I-64 route between I-95/195 & Innsbrook (west of Richmond city) are presently getting a smooth-as-a-baby's-buttocks blacktop. THICK TOO!

On the flipside...as the VDOT / contracted crews work the lanes, they don't 'stop evenly' with all three for the day. There is always that one unpaved lane with a 4" drop/roll-off that you must dodge when timing/switching lanes. And for all of that non-even portion?...there's TONS of lil' tar/rock/marbles that get flung up smartly against your front windscreen :crack: ...yeah, I got 2 cracks in my windscreen just this week. And any number of 'thumps' to the windscreen that didn't materialize into cracks (thank goodness...)

Can't they afford to do a pass with one of those 'sweeper-rollers' when they wrap up their shift each evening? I mean...jeeez, get a broom and a dustpan for goodness sake!

I'm right there with all you feeling tired of the same ol' same ol' government running inefficiently and wasting millions.

It's actually one of the reasons I'm looking to buy a house in Frederick or Clark County VA. I'm in Loudoun right now and even though we're one of the richest counties in the country they still can't make a tolerable budget. Mismanagement of funds at every turn. If you guys knew what the school system pays for parents of children with special needs you'd need blood pressure medicine.

Frederick Co/Clark Co taxes for ~275k house $1500/year = $125/month
Loudoun Co taxes for ~275k house $4000-5000/year = $350-450 /month

traffic kills me here...the worst part is the randomness. You never know when it will hit, and I always seem to guess wrong...
