After having a good look at my current rotors, considering the time, effort and cost involved with having them resurfaced properly and the fact that they have 55k miles on them (and some surface cracks and very slight pulsing, *mostly* noticable from higher speeds but also at lower speeds)...
Any recommendations for a slight upgrade in stopping power/fade resistance, etc using the stock pads? Or are pads the only thing (short of a whole new brake system) that will make a significant difference in braking ability?
I just replaced pads all the way around and the fluid with SuperBlue, so a little upgrade on the rotors would be cool (ventilated rears?). Stainless lines might also be a nice addition, for looks and pedal feel...
I just visited Tirerack.com today to look at what they had. They sell rotors, brake pads, and the braided lines for a good price. If money is no issue then they also sell big brake kits. Hope this helps a bit....
big brakes are well out of my realm of reality for the time being. and really not necessary, as I'm not racing. Just something a little better for the street would be nice. something to add a little flare and possibly better performance.
I bought a set off of 4IG for a great price and am very happy with them I cant post pics now b/c the site is screwed, but look at my av and you can see them.
Hmm, I am looking into replacements as well. At 38,000 miles, they had been turned once, but I don't think they will survive another round of re-surfacing...
There were some stock ones for sale. I had an offer of $200 shipped for the set. I turned it down at that time and had them turned at $20/rotor in a shop next to Rockville autobody...
This time I might just look into the OEM replacements...
Check out the Spugen. Here are two pics. I have them as well but don't have any good photos of mine. I'm VERY happy with mine. Daily driver, no tracking. Plus I did pads, lines, and fluid.

My take? There's no reason (other than bling-bling) to replace the stock rotors. On the track there are probably a dozen guys capable of exceeding the capabilities of the stock setup with race pads and upgraded fluid. I've installed ducting, and with Panther Plus pads and upgraded fluid, the brakes are flawless. I think the rotors are great, and they're cheap to replace when you wear them out. The constraint to braking isn't the rotor, it's the amount of traction you can generate, which is a function of the tire and road surface. You won't stop any shorter with an aftermarket setup. Just my two cents...

Thanks for your take on it. After reading a rather lengthy thread originally posted on some Altima board, I've come to understand brakes a lot better and agree with you.
I think the price on the Spugens that I've been quoted is decent (about $100 more than stock for all 4 corners) for a little bit of bling bling.
Actually, CAD plated stock rotors would do me fine, I haven't seen these. The slotted-only are what I'm looking at right now.
