Default USAA Insured members...

Having recently added a new vehicle as a DD, my insurance went up having full-coverage on 2 vehicles. Since I don't drive my S during the winter months, I asked USAA what I could do to help bring costs down. The rep suggested if I was not going to drive the vehicle, that I could put it in 'stored' status. The only condition is that you have to put it in a 'secured' location. When I asked her to define that she said a parking space or something of that nature was fine.

This helped to cut my insurance costs by 2/3 while I don't drive it and all I have to do is call them prior to putting it back on the road to take it out of storage. Something to think about if you don't drive your S during the winter and have USAA insurance.

I have USAA. They are very easy to work with. I remember when my dad put his 91 Wrangler under a storage status while we replaced the motor. All it took was a 5 minute phone call to re-activate it once it was fixed (and it was stored over the entire winter season).

This is definitely a great feature I take advantage of. MY two EF's are in "storage status" currently. Makes a big difference.

I think you can report that your car is driven less than 5,000 miles a year or whatever it is and that may lower the rate.

The real savings with USAA is when a car is driven less than 4000 miles per year (goes to occasional status). I've had mine set at 4k the last couple years and realized this week I only put 3k miles on it a year, so I'll be calling to update. Last years 3k included a roadtrip to Richmond, DC and Dover. haha
