The law doesn't specifically say exactly where the license plate needs to be in the front, only that it needs to be mounted on the front bumper.
There's got to be more to it than that, Peter... Buddy!

If you mounted on the underside of the front bumper, you'd get a ticket.

you're an idiot keeping a relatively sharp piece of metal right at throat-heighth.

I purposely do not use a front plate as I will take that ticket over the speeding or whatever everytime. I remember several years ago a few of us S2kiers were headed from Hooters to the Barnes and Noble on Rockville Pike when we got pulled by a few cops. One guy got towed and a few got speeding or reckless drving tickets while I skated with no front tag as my only ticket.

Just mail in your check with the ticket - it doesn't go on your record as a moving violation. I bet it is more expensive to fight it in court.
Save your time and effort. Plus I've heard bad stories that you have to pay significant $$$ in court costs if you show up to contest it.

just put it on, take a picture, and take that to court and have it dismissed. crystal and i both recently got tixx within a week of each other for that, we both took pics, and were in and out of court within 5 mins. case dismissed. the funny thing is that , i had no plate for about 2 years, .. then we took hers off, she got a ticket within a week, . .so i was laughing at her about that, less than a week after i got nabbed. karma is a bi#$h

some of those coments were funny...I had no clue anyone would respond to this.

Yes I did mean Vermont not Virginia Tech...I have to remember down here VT could mean either.

Sharp metal object at throat....ok I'll give you that it might not be the safest....BUT in my defense it slides down into the groove between the dash and the glass by about an 1/2-1 inch and that sucker doesn't move. I'm not saying it couldn't though....like you said with traffic around here...

I will be moving it down to the front bumper sooner or later....I'm not worried about it.

I'm not sure why a few people have said I'd have to pay court costs. If it is dismissed there is no court cost. I don't want to argue how things are supposed to work, but I've had other things like my exhaust dismissed and the court acted like it never happened...no fees....no hassle...maybe someone can clear that one up for me.

KVU - I usually don't get too defensive and when I post something I want people to tell me if I'm wrong or right and if I'm wrong explain why. I didn't take ANYTHING you said as rude or whatnot. You can be much more of an asshole then that before I say something In all fairness I was a dick to Dylan about something he posted when I was having a bad day, but I apologized. I'm just here to learn and share some experiences.
